TapScout
Local search ranked by what you can book or order right now
Voice-search local businesses by ZIP and radius, re-ranked by a scoring function that rewards actionability — places you can book or order from right now — over raw review counts.
A 400-review local place beats a 50,000-review chain because review weight saturates at 300 reviews.
Raw order vs. TapScout order
Ten fictional sushi places — mock data, no API key — spanning 40 to 48,000 reviews and 400 m to 14 km. The left column is Google's own sort: most reviews first. The right column is TapScout's score.

A saturating curve, not a leaderboard
The score is (rating/5) × volWeight(reviews) × distWeight(distance) × 1.1 if bookable × 1.05 if open now. volWeight runs review count through a saturating curve — a shape that climbs fast at first and then flattens — so a place with a few hundred reviews scores nearly as well as one with fifty thousand. Distance decays gently between 500 m and 15 km rather than cutting off hard. Actionability — can you book, order, or is it open right now — is the only thing left to break the tie, and it usually does.
